Our mission in action it was formulated with the understanding that only through a passion for behavior change married with scientific research would it be possible to grapple with the causes, impacts and attainable treatments for a disorder that has impacted many families for decades. SPARTA’s goal is to achieve success by reshaping the lives of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and to broaden education within families and communities where research has identified growing concern. Over several decades, behavioral intervention has been scientifically and socially validated as effectively treating the symptoms and improving the development of children with ASD across the world. Access to behavioral intervention for children with ASD can dramatically change their lives and the livelihoods of their families.

SPARTA aims to provide high-quality Autism treatment and parent training as a center-based educational setting in New York, USA, and home-based setting in Crete, Greece. SPARTA’s educational and therapeutic program implements innovative empirically supported procedures in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to address the needs of children diagnosed with ASD and/or other severe developmental disabilities. Through your generous donations, and with funds from organizations such as Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Fund, SPARTA can continue its mission in providing behavioral intervention to children with ASD, educating families and communities to support their children, as well as researching best practices and disseminating the findings globally. SPARTA seeks to provide a pathway to a sustainable life for children struggling with severe ASD from low socio-economic status families and under-served neighborhoods throughout New York City, and Crete, Greece.

SPARTA has worked towards improving the lives of every family and student we serve, and has already begun to implement treatments and research in Greece, as well as America. SPARTA’s impact on the communities we serve has been significant in fostering positive behavior change. In addition, our program assists many parents, especially immigrant parents, to understand the treatment options available, as well as help them navigate the process in obtaining services.

Treatment

Applying empirically supported behavioral interventions in ABA to nonverbal children diagnosed with Autism living in NY, and in rural areas (e.g., villages, mountains) of Greece. Behavioral intervention has been scientifically proven and socially validated as effectively treating the symptoms and improving the development of children with ASD across the world. Access to behavioral intervention for children with ASD can dramatically change their lives and the livelihoods of their families. ABA interventions are making it possible for children to flourish as adults with careers in the USA. Currently, there is very little investment in ASD children living in other countries especially Greece, and they remain unable to communicate effectively and function within the community. SPARTA has created a behavioral intervention program to improve the lives of children with ASD in Crete, Greece, that will also be replicable in other rural communities throughout the world.

Education

Home- and center-based parent training through empirically supported ABA procedures such as Behavioral Skills Training (BST), which consists of instructions, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback.

Research

Conduct and publish research on the effectiveness of ABA treatments and parent training with the American and Greek populations. SPARTA has its own IRB Team onsite and our researchers are also published scholars on optimal techniques for ABA interventions, parent and teacher trainings.
